The results of the letter ballot of the committee upon the recommendations which have been made relative to the revision of old and the submission of new standards are as follows: This report has been submitted to letter ballot of the committee, which consists of 42 members, of whom 27 have voted affirmatively, 2 negatively, and 13 have refrained from voting. Respectfully submitted on behalf of the committee, A. H. Blanchard, Chairman. Prevost Hubbard, Secretary. Editorial Note. The Tentative Tests for Apparent Specific Gravity of Sand, Stone and Slag Screenings and Other Fine Non-Bituminous Highway Materials, and the revised Tentative Method for Determination of Softening Point of Tar Products referred to in this report were approved at the annual meeting and subsequently adopted as standard by letter ballot of the Society on September 1, 1919, and appear in the Supplementary Pamphlet of A.S.T.M. Standards Adopted in 1919. The revision in the Standard Test for Loss on Heating of Oil and Asphaltic Compounds referred to in the report was accepted as tentative, and the Test in revised form appears on pages 732-735. The four proposed new tentative standards referred to in the report were accepted for publication as tentative and appear on pages 650-655 and 764-767. REPORT OF COMMITTEE D-10 ON SHIPPING CONTAINERS. No meeting of this committee has been held since the last annual meeting of the Society. Much valuable information has been accumulated during the year by various members of the committee. Observations and records have been made as to the condition of the containers and their efficiency in both domestic and foreign commerce.
